British Parts International :: Spring Kit FAQ

    Spring Kit FAQ
Spring Conversion Kits Still have some lingering questions about those Spring Conversion Kits you've been hearing so much about? We Have Answers here.

A Beginner's Guide to Spring Kits EAS Problems Real Stories about Spring Kits Spring Kit FAQ Buy a Spring Kit

For Classic and New Shape Range Rovers.

What are the benefits of converting to coil springs?
    • Save money on expensive, recurring EAS repairs.

    • Eliminate troublesome EAS components including:
      • Persistently leaking air bags
      • Cranky air bag air compressors
      • Complicated electrical modules.

    • Peace of mind from knowing that air springs will not fail when you least expect it.

    • Improved ride and handling: less spongy, more stable.

How long will the conversion take?

The first time may take about 4 hours to install. After the first time, it should take about 2-1/2 hours from start to finish. Fully illustrated, easy to follow instructions are included with each kit.

     Are special tools required?

Standard tools are used for the conversion. To insure absolute safety you will need access to a full vehicle lift.

How long will the spring kit last with normal driving?

The new springs should last indefinitely. Shocks should be renewed according to the service that the vehicle experiences. A 12 month/12,000 mile warranty comes standard with each kit.

Do the shocks need to be changed?
We highly recommend changing shocks at the same time the air bags are replaced to do the job "right." We recommend either Bilstein or Dobbinson shocks.

Will the conversion change the ride and handling?

Yes - for the better. The factory air springs offer a mushy ride and do not offer the "positive" response of conventional coil springs. Newly converted trucks have a sturdier ride. The "lean" around corners is dampened and the side to side sway of the truck down the road is sharply reduced. The converted truck is less "spongy" and has a feeling of greater stability.

Can I convert the kit back to EAS mode if I want to?

Yes, the conversion is completely reversible and will not damage any of the EAS components. However, the springs enhance the ride and handling so much that we know of no customers who have done so.

Will the warning lights come back on once the kit is installed?

No, we offer instructions to put the truck into "manual mode." Once in "manual mode", the truck will stay in "manual mode."

Do you have the "module" to turn out the EAS and speed warning lights?

No, you do not need it. The plug in "module" offered by other vendors of spring kits is unnecessary and creates more confusion than it solves. It is nothing more than a box that crosses the same wires we tell you how to connect to effect the same result. The "module" is just a fancy way to put the truck into "manual mode." Follow our easy instructions to make the conversion with complete confidence that the warning lights will not come back on.
