British Parts International and Motorcars Ltd has always “Supported the Troops”. Recently, we decided to take that support to the “next level” by hosting a “Support The Troops” BBQ and “Red Shirt Friday”. As a result of publicity of the BBQ, we have had opportunities to expand our involvement and to add our support to an organization that really needs our help in supporting our men and women in harm’s way. We feel it is the duty of every American to support our troops regardless of political fervor for or against the military. Most people simply do not know what to do. We have discovered that the most tangible results happen when money is raised for “Care Packages” or for organizations that can keep the momentum going. We have chosen to help “The Marine Moms” in Houston. They have done an exemplary job of helping to send Girl Scout Cookies, Starbucks Coffee, care packages, 91st Psalm Bandanas and letters and care packages to the Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan. | Ford Finally Sells the Jaguar and Land Rover Marquees | |

After months of speculation the "Deal of the Century" has been finalized. Ford will sell off the Jaguar and Land Rover Marquees to India's Tata Motors for an estimated 2.3 billion dollars. This is appoximatly a third of what Ford paid for the two British Marquees years ago. Jaguar was purchased by Ford in 1989 and Land Rover followed in 2000. Ford has stated that it was not receiving a profitable return on their intial investment. The sell was part of Ford's new strategy to focus on its main brands. The Ford chief executive and president, Alan Mulally, said "Now, it is time for Ford to concentrate on integrating the Ford brand globally, as we implement our plan to create a strong Ford Motor Company that delivers profitable growth for all". Speaking about the two Luxury Brands Tata says "We will endeavor to preserve and build on their heritage and competitiveness" while "keeping their identities intact". Tata says it will continue to build the vehicles in the U.K. and that Ford will continue to supply engines, transmissions and other components including engineering as well as enviromental support. Tata has also stated it doesn't expect any significant changes for the current workforce saving about 16,000 Jobs for time being. However the rumor mill has been circulating a report that Tata is only interested in the Land Rover Brand and Tata will likely sell off the Jaguar brand as soon as it acquires it from Ford. Both Tata or Ford have yet to comment on this latest rumor, only time will tell what the future has instore for Jaguar. |

| 1995-1996 P38 Range Rover BECM Failures | |
One of the causes for premature failure of the BECM in early P38 Rovers was a faulty insulating sheath that protected the wiring harness bundle that connected the relay panel in the right side kick panel to the BECM. The problem didn’t always appear until water somehow found its way into the sill. Normally this was the result of a failure of the heater core O-rings, that allowed water to permeate the insulating sheath and enter the BECM. How did this occur? Well it seems that the vendor that provides Rover with their cables and wiring harnesses uses a machine that draws the protective sheath through rollers with the help of some metal teeth. At some point the machine either got new teeth or they became out of adjustment somehow, and penetrated too deeply into the harness, introducing tiny holes in the insulation. By now, most of the vehicles affected have probably been repaired. And by 1997, the problem had been resolved by the factory. But if for some unknown reason your BECM goes south on you, take a look at the right sill harness and see if it’s wet! May save you hours of headaches, and maybe a few dollars as well! |

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. How old are you?.... "I'm four and a half "....You're never 36 and a half....you're four and a half going on five! That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number. How old are you? "I'm gonna be 16." You could be 12, but you're gonna be 16. And then the greatest day of your life happens....you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony....you BECOME 21...YES!!! But then you TURN 30....ooohhh what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk....He TURNED, we had to throw him out. There's no fun now. What's wrong?? What changed?? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.....stay over there, it's all slipping away... You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, you're PUSHING 40, you REACH 50.....and your dreams are gone. Then you MAKE IT to 60.....you didn't think you'd make it!!!! So you BECOME 21, you TURN 30, you're PUSHING 40, you REACH 50, you MAKE IT to 60......then you build up so much speed you HIT 70! After that, it's a day by day thing. After that, you HIT Wednesday.... You get into your 80's, you HIT lunch. You TURN 4:30, my grandmother won't even buy green bananas....it's an investment you know, and maybe a bad one. And it doesn't end there....into the 90's you start going backwards.... I was JUST 92... Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again.... "I'm 100 and a half!!!!" |
