| Troubleshooting Ground-based Electrical Problems in Early Series One Discoverys |
As we all know by now, poor grounds can cause numerous problems on a 1994 - 1996 Discovery. The following are main ground locations and the components they effect. Later Series One Discos had these locations and several others, and frankly I can’t remember them all, so you’ll have to snoop around a little to find them all.
Check these ground locations:
- Right inner fender, behind the battery. Battery and ECM on 1994 & 1995 models.
- Below the battery, inside the right frame rail. Battery ground.
- Right of the left cylinder head. ECU, AC compressor clutch on 1994 & 1995 models.
- Right frame rail, inside wheel well. Starter.
- Left footwell, behind trim panel. ECM, key switch, radio, OBDII data link.
- Right footwell, behind trim panel. Starter solenoid relay, park-neutral position switch, alarm, data link connector. On GEMS cars, there is also an IPAC grounding
- Left side of luggage compartment, behind access panel for taillights, above light assembly. Fuel pump, fuel level sensor. To clean the contact surface on any ground connection, remove the fastener and use a wire brush to clean the post, connector and nut as needed. Spraying on a little contact cleaner may help, too. If the contact point is painted, scrape away some of the paint, exposing bare metal, then a star washer can also be added to improve the connection.
One last note. It has been my experience that the ground wires can, and usually do corrode inside the insulation, reducing
the conductivity, and as a result the effectiveness of the grounding point. Inspect the ground and its insulation several inches
up from the connection to ensure that the wire itself has not been compromised. This is especially true in high humidity areas. Good Hunting! |
| Land Rover Remanufactured EAS Valve Block |
 |
Motorcars LTD would like to present another valuable solution for your Range Rover, Remanufactured EAS Valve Blocks . This is a great alternative to purchasing a new unit.
Our rebuilt Range Rover Electronic Air Suspension "EAS" valve blocks start with an OEM core and go through several remanufacturing processes in our Black Dog Reman Department. Following a thorough cleaning and inspection, only the best cores move down the line. Our valve block cores are reassembled with all new o-rings. Before leaving the Reman department, each unit is fully tested for consistent air pressure as well as operational functionality.

David Mendoza.
Let's face it -- English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France.
We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese?
Doesn't it seem crazy that If teachers taught, why didn't preacher praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? If you wrote a letter, perhaps you bote your tongue?
Why do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? Park on driveways and drive on parkways?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and wise guy are opposites? How can overlook and oversee be opposites, while quite a lot and quite a few are alike? How can the weather be hot as hell one day and cold as hell another.
Have you noticed that we talk about certain things only when they are absent? Have you ever seen a horseful carriage or a strapful gown? Met a sung hero or experienced requited love? Have you ever run into someone who was combobulated, gruntled, ruly or peccable? And where are all those people who ARE spring chickens or who would ACTUALLY hurt a fly?
You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm clock goes off by going on.
English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn't a race at all). That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible. And why, when I wind up my watch, I start it, but when I wind up this essay, I end it.
